Firstly, Congratulations from Saltaire Bridal, this is super exciting!
1. Don’t forget to take some time together – just the two of you.
STOP and take a hot minute to wallow in the dreamy feels of being newly engaged even for a few hours or days. It’s an emotional love-drunk feeling and you want to soak it up and live in the moment. Laugh together, cry together, hug and crack open a bottle of champagne.
2. Don’t forget to tell your fav family and friends first
Even if it’s a facetime or call BEFORE you share on your socials or they will find out through a friend of a friend. Of course you will want to tell the world after all it’s THE best news!
3. Don’t forget to get your new ring insurance
Do this asap! Even if you are guarding your ring with your life, looking at it all day long you do not want to even think about losing it – nooooooo! Get this sorted now.

4. Don’t forget to think about a wedding timeline
The most important word in this is THINK – not plan it all yet.
You’ll be constantly asked “have you set a date yet?” But do it in your own time! Whether it’s this year, next year or in six years time. Just make sure you’re both on the same page then park it.
This includes whether you choose to have an engagement celebration or not to kick things off.
5. Don’t be scared to talk numbers!
Once you have a budget you can decide on your guest numbers then start making plans for the perfect venue to cater for you all. Plus it will give you more idea on what you want to spend on each area of your wedding.
6. Don’t forget to book a photographer if you want engagement photos.
Skip this section if it’s not for you.
Photographers get booked up quickly so do your research and find the style that suits your vibe and get in touch with them asap. Most will include an engagement shoot as part of your wedding package.
Engagement shoots are great to make you feel more comfortable in front of a camera, find that style you feel most comfortable with, candid or more staged which will be helpful for your wedding day.
7. Don’t forget to attend Wedding Fairs and Open Days
Venues offer Open Days for you to see their wedding day set ups and offerings so do look at the ones you would like to see and find out their dates, make sure you book with them as some do have appointments only.
Check out where other larger Wedding Fairs are taking place and get the dates in your diaries. This is a fantastic way to get inspiration and take details of the stand out suppliers you meet.
8. Don’t rush to buy a dress
Don’t get me wrong – this is an important purchase and you want the best experience possible with the YES moment – most bridal boutiques will recommend you have your date and venue booked before arranging your bridal appointment.
It will also depend on whether you are ready to buy a dress and put it away until your wedding day if you buy now or if a dress to order will arrive in time for your special day.
If you have a short timescale before the wedding then YES you will need to get booked in asap especially if you are looking at a brand that needs ordering. As an off-the-peg boutique Saltaire Bridal is perfect for those who are looking for something different, to be able to take your chosen bridalwear away with you.
This list is just a starting point and do remember to enjoy the wedding planning process, it can be stressful at times (usually the RSVP’s!) and also a wonderful, fun experience.
A huge congratulations again on your engagement and when you are ready for your bridal wear appointment we are here for you.
