When you’re planning your wedding this may not be something you are thinking about – why would you when wedding planning is much more fun!
So once the vows have been exchanged, the rings are firmly on your fingers and the confetti is still being removed from every nook and cranny – you will need to do some practical ‘wedmin’ and that includes notifying a list of people about your name change.
Firstly – you will need to get your Marriage certificate and a few certified copies.
A few things to consider.
*Obvs this is only if you have chosen to change your name.
*As we celebrate differences at Saltaire Bridal you’ll also find that you have companies, authorities and associations that relate specifically to you. This checklist is a good start and may well spark off a reminder of others you’ll need to add to your own personal checklist.
*Same sex couples. There is no legal name changing convention. You may choose to blend your surnames or hyphenate- totally your choice.
*A Deed Poll is required if you choose to create a new surname or add or remove a middle name.
*Some changes can carry a cost – for example a Passport or possibly an Admin Charge – do check with each individual company.
