If you’re feeling anxious about your bridal appointment or even at the point of starting your bridal journey, I must say you are not alone, this is a regular conversation I have and why we will cover this before you even step foot in the boutique.
You’ll find advice on the website, my social media channels and when you complete the online booking form there are areas where you can add your concerns, literally whatever they may be. From worrying about the actual appointment process or your sensitivities with touch and smells, maybe you never wear dresses or just the thought of it makes you feel uncomfortable.
As a sensitive neurospicy-aware human I make it my priority to address any concerns you have and we do it discreetly. I recognise that every anxiety is different and there are no judgments.
Pre-Visit Appointment
You may choose to book a Pre-visit, a quick and stress free way to meet me, Tracy, ask any questions you may have and have a quick tour of the boutique. It only takes about 10 minutes and is the perfect way to pre-empt those anxieties plus it’s fun too!
I’m speaking on behalf of Saltaire Bridal and can confirm there will be no judgement – no pressure – only care and an ear to listen – expert advice – plenty of fun.
No Pressure, no rush
I hear often that there is a fear they will be pressured into sale – you won’t have that at Saltaire Bridal. It’s more important to me that you find the perfect dress or wedding wear for you and if that is not with me then that’s okay. I’m totally relaxed about taking the time you need to make the right decision for you. Appointments are not rushed – you have up to 2 hours. Relaxed, fun and supportive. If you need to go home, look at any photos you take during your appointment and think about what you’ve seen – that’s okay and actually what I suggest often.
Body Consciousness
Oh I get it! Not many people look forward to stripping off in front of a stranger! Pretty much everyone has a part of their body they dislike and I’m not here to tell you “Don’t be silly!” I understand it. What we will do is disguise the bits you dislike and emphasise the fab bits. When you put on the perfect dress you’ll totally forget about them.
We celebrate all body types and can find you a dress to highlight your fabulousness and you’ll feel the best version of you. Your appointment will be one-to-one so no sharing the space with other brides-to-be this will ensure you feel comfortable and confident during the whole process. When completing your online booking form – be honest. If you have any queries, any worries this is the time to mention it – no judgement here.
How will I react? Will I cry?
If you’ve watched any TV shows and worry that you HAVE to cry – then let me tell you that not everyone does. We are all unique, thankfully, and react in different ways too. Yes you want to feel amazing and love what you see in the mirror. You may cry happy tears, you may get excited and not what to take the dress off. You may swish and twirl. You may stand up straight with a big smile on your face. Know that I will guide you, I’ve helped countless brides and for 9 out of 10 it is on their first visit too.
Be open-minded
You’ll fall into one of a few camps when it comes to styles, fabrics and colours. You could know exactly what you are looking for, you have scoured Pinterest and Instagram and are ready or you could still not be 100% sure. You may have no idea where to start and will be grateful for the help of an experienced style consultant, that’s me by the way.
It’s always good to have an open mind as you may be pleasantly surprised when you try something totally left-field.
A dress on a hanger can be nothing special until it has a body inside to add your personality.
Think carefully about your entourage
You may choose to invite the full number of people to your appointment – 4 is the max at Saltaire Bridal due to space – however it can be less stressful and certainly less opinions if you decide to keep the numbers to a minimum.
At Saltaire Bridal you’ll be welcomed if you choose to come along alone or if you choose to come along with your partner too. Take the pressure off yourself and take control of who you want with you.
What size ? Your size!
When you complete the online booking form you will be asked for your high street size after that we do not discuss sizing.
During the appointment we will focus on the fit, style and details rather than the size on the label. The important factor is to think about how the dress makes you feel. To make sure it fits perfectly I can suggest some fantastic, experienced and sensibly priced seamstresses to do this for you.
